I am an independent security researcher. I am interested in all forms of security but my main areas of interest lie in analyzing malicious code such as viruses and worms and discovering vulnerabilities in software. I also enjoy developing tools to aid my research and writing proof of concept exploits for my discovered vulnerabilities. Types of vulnerabilities of particular interest include buffer overflows, integer overflows, format strings, cross-site scripting, directory traversal and command injection.
I am skilled and familiar in a wide variety of languages such as C, C++, C#, Perl, Python, JavaScript, etc to name a few. So far I have achieved a number of certifications which are MCSE+I, CCNA, MCSA, TISCA and CISSP.
On the academic side I hold a MSc in Information Security graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London. My thesis was about “Buffer Overflows in the Microsoft Windows Environment”. The thesis had been selected in the top 10 award winning project which has been published on the Royal Holloway site. My thesis can be downloaded from here or from the Royal Holloway site. An article about my thesis has also been published on the Search Security site.
